Progressive Web App with AdonisJs

#1

Hi,

I’m new to adonis and it looks promising. I want to build PWA with adonisJs. Can anyone points me to the right direction?

Best regards

I think your question is rather vague. I think you should get started and then ask more specific questions once you run into problems.

Hi,
I’m following an app adonis tutorial.
I have done all steps and have a working sample.
How can I create a manifest and get the app installable on devices.

Which tutorial are you following?

But PWA are more of a front end thing, and this tutorial has nothing to do with PWA.

So is your question then how to deploy the app you have created thru that tutorial?

I am specifically confused about this part. What devices are you talking about?

You’d need a NodeJS runtime on those devices. I don’t think that is what you want to achieve.

You don’t want to run an AdonisJS server on a mobile device. What you probably want is to run AdonisJS on a server somewhere (e.g. Heroku), and then build a client app that communicates with that server via an API.

Hi moltar,

sorry not being clear.
Yes you pointed me right to what I want to do.
It seems I lost with other adonis tutoriel I’m following.
I’m also reading The Definitive Guide to AdonisJs.pdf.
Sorry not being so clear
Web development is new to me

If you are new to webdev, I’d recommend against learning PWA right away. It is a very complex topic. Just learn to build classic, non-PWA and non-SPA apps. Just use edge templates to build a website that just works.

Then you can learn to experiment with the other technologies.

Look at this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3KXfMroUYI
It is used pug instead edge template
and express instead of adonis.js.
The principles are the same.
Make a fullstack app with adonis and edge and then add manifest and the other files to create a pwa.
This might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhg01Ml-8pI
